Gender Inequality

Team Members : Manish Garg, Akash Garg

Gender Inequality refers to the different behaviour/treatment with  the individual based on their gender. Gender inequalities refer to the unequal opportunities for various genders in social, political and economic fields.

Female population constitute about 50 percent of the total population. Without their active participation, economic, social and political growth is not possible. Research studies show that reduction in barriers to female labour force participation would increase the size of country’s gross domestic product.

We conducted interviews for few people and asked for their views on the topic through some questions. We analysed their responses and views from different perspectives. We analyzed that men are ready to bear the responsibilities that are generally borne by the women. People agreed that women can work in top positions like CEO, CTO. When asked about reservations, people supported the reservations in political system but discarded the same idea in educational institutions and various other fields. People believe that the old customs and traditions are responsible for the gender discrimination. When asked about the impact of involvement of women on the performance of a group we got mixed responses.

People think that gender inequality exists still in the system due to old beliefs and traditions. They think that all genders have equal capabilities. Research shows that involvement of women increases the efficiency of a group. But our study claimed that performance of the group depends on the strength and the capabilities of the individual. People believe that upbringing of women at this stage can definitely help to reduce gender bias.
